“My district is home to more than 28,000 veterans, a former Army Base, a proud Coast Guard city, and former Navy city. VA’s cancellation of the Alameda Point Project is unacceptable for veterans in our region who deserve quality health care and families looking to provide a close, accessible final resting place for their loved ones. We must do right by our veterans and ensure they are not left without care OR answers. Thank you to House Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Rosa DeLauro and Subcommittee Ranking Member Debbie Wasserman Schultz for their leadership and advocacy for the Alameda and SF VA projects throughout the appropriations process. We look forward to continuing to advocate for proper services for the 270,000 veterans in the Bay Area.”

“My Commission colleagues and I thank Representatives Simon, García and Garamendi for their leadership in preserving the cornerstone of the federal transportation program. Federal transit formula dollars drive the engines of prosperity for metro areas all around the country. Here in the Bay Area, we use federal formula money to help keep our transit infrastructure in good condition, which is key to safety and reliability for the million riders our systems carry each day. Thanks to this support, millions more have a viable alternative to driving. Just 3% to 5% fewer vehicles on the road can cut traffic delays by up to 70%. Without our transit formula funding in place, congestion could overwhelm highways from the Bay Area to the Beltway.”

“I am extremely focused on bringing resources back to the East Bay and into my Congressional district to improve the lives of my constituents.”
“I am extremely focused on bringing resources back to the East Bay and into my Congressional district to improve the lives of my constituents,” said Congresswoman Simon. “This $142 million in funding I’ve secured since the start of the year will help bolster the incredible arts and culture of CA-12, support cutting-edge scientific research, and advance disability and housing justice. When we resource and support our communities, we build on the vibrancy of the district and pave the way for future art and innovation.

“We are grateful to Congresswoman Simon for visiting the San Leandro shoreline today and for securing this important federal investment in our community. This funding will help strengthen shoreline infrastructure, protect bay waters, and enhance open space opportunities for residents and visitors alike.”

“Ensuring that small businesses have equitable access to the capital they need to grow, hire, and thrive in a safe, transparent, and fair marketplace is essential. There are over 16,000 small businesses in my district, and I know that the key to strong, thriving Main Streets is ensuring that small business owners have the resources and protections they need. That’s why I am proud to introduce this resolution alongside House Small Business Committee Ranking Member Velázquez to stand firmly against exploitative practices that undermine entrepreneurs and put small business owners at risk.”

“Nothing is more important than the health and safety of those who call the East Bay home, which is why I fought to secure funding for the East Bay Regional Fire Training Facility. I look forward to working with the Cities of Berkeley and Albany to ensure our region can ramp up emergency responder training and that our communities are equipped and supported to handle fires and other emergencies.”
