Mail theft in Stockton is out of control, and our families deserve justice through tougher penalties and stronger enforcement. That’s why I pushed to pass my amendment to bring the full weight of the federal government down on these criminals. No one in our community should have to be afraid to check for their mail, and I’m going to continue fighting to end this crisis in our neighborhoods.

Keeping Valley families safe depends on local departments having enough staff - full stop - that’s why fully funding federal hiring programs is so important. Local law enforcement put their lives on the line every single day, and we have a responsibility to have their backs. This bill delivers on that promise by restoring funding for hiring more officers, expanding proven strategies that reduce crime, and finally getting politics out of public safety.

Food banks play a critical role in our communities providing families with essential resources - that’s why I fought for the Stockton Emergency Food Bank to receive federal funding to expand their services. Many of the families that use food banks work full-time jobs but still can’t make ends meet with rising costs. This expansion project will make sure that more families have access to this lifeline with dignity. We can’t let our community go hungry.

My number one job is showing up and listening to Valley issues, and it was great to welcome so many Valley leaders to Washington. The best ideas don’t come from bureaucrats sitting behind desks in D.C., they come from the people on the ground who know exactly what their communities need. I’m grateful for the important discussions and exciting opportunities that come out of this annual tradition, and I’m going to keep working with local leaders to make sure our families have the federal support they deserve.

Valley commuters are facing a runaway rollercoaster of prices at the pump that have been out of control for months, and our families need some immediate relief. $100 just to fill up your tank is unacceptable - we need the war in Iran to end, but we can’t wait months for prices to come down. That’s why I’m pushing to suspend the federal gas tax and lower gas prices right now.

This program means better grades, diplomas, and lifelong career success for the kids in our community who are struggling the most, and it’s insane that Washington bureaucrats thought they could get away with messing with our kids’ futures. Every student in our community deserves access to the resources and support that they need to thrive. That’s why I immediately called out attempts to permanently close Discovery ChalleNGe Academy, and I’m relieved to see quick results that will save the school from closure.
