The firefighters of Station 8 have spent 73 years walking out of this building and into danger to protect this community. They've done it without hesitation, without complaint, and from a building where they lay their heads at night knowing it's been deemed vulnerable to collapse. The men and women who work here deserve a station that's safe, modern, and built for the emergencies of today — not 1953. This $500,000 federal investment is a down payment on that promise, and I'm going to keep fighting until it's finished.

This community investment is exactly what voters had in mind — making sure LA County is building for the future, protecting residents, and supporting the first responders who show up for us every single day. Thanks go to Congresswoman Laura Friedman for her partnership and leadership in securing this federal funding. I’m also proud that $19.5 million of Measure E funding will go toward this effort, bringing us close to the full amount needed to make this project a reality.

The President demanded a firing on Monday. The FCC pulled the licenses on Tuesday. That’s just blatant retaliation. This is a coordinated campaign to punish media companies that criticize the President and it’s been a long running pattern for this President’s Administration. Now, they’re threatening ABC’s licenses to make sure everyone else falls in line. When Democrats take back the majority, we will hold this FCC accountable — with hearings, subpoenas, and legislation.

I look forward to the art competition every year, because the stories that these students tell through brushstrokes and acrylics we see here are just the start of a long journey in the creative arts — the kind of journey that may lead them to Hollywood studios making storyboards or drafting award-winning scripts. I will always strive to deliver more resources and opportunities for our children to pursue their creative dreams.

In just the past year alone we’ve seen Armenian-genocide denialism from the highest levels of government, which underscores just how important commemorating the Armenian genocide is. Today is not just an important reminder to remember history, but to stand by the Armenian American community at home while ensuring that the United States serves as a strong ally for the nation of Armenia.
