“I’m honored to co-lead this bipartisan amendment to better serve Tribal veterans who face challenges in obtaining the care they deserve. This measure would help close gaps in coverage by expanding outreach and support for these patriots. I’m grateful to Rep. Greg Stanton for his leadership in building consensus behind this good-faith approach.”

Crane and Stanton Secure Passage of Amendment to Improve Care for Tribal Veterans Today, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously adopted an amendment introduced by Rep. Greg Stanton (D-AZ) and co-led by Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) to improve access to health care for Tribal veterans. The amendment passed as part of an en bloc package in the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2027. Native Americans serve in the armed forces at roughly five times the national average and have a storied legacy of helping turn the tide of international conflicts. In Arizona, we are well-versed in their heroic service, notably the Navajo and Hopi Code Talkers who forged an unbreakable code during the dark hours of World War II. Despite their significant contributions to defending our nation, Tribal veterans often face difficulties accessing the care they have rightfully earned. With most VA health centers located off reservations, distance remains a major barrier to receiving treatment. In response to these challenges, Reps. Crane and Stanton advocated for passage of Amendment No. 48, which redirects $5 million from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) General Administration account to the VA Office of Rural Health to expand services. This funding would support mobile clinics and targeted clinical staffing to improve access to care for Tribal veterans. “I’m honored to co-lead this bipartisan amendment to better serve Tribal veterans who face challenges in obtaining the care they deserve. This measure would help close gaps in coverage by expanding outreach and support for these patriots. I’m grateful to Rep. Greg Stanton for his leadership in building consensus behind this good-faith approach,” said Rep. Crane . “On behalf of rural Arizonans, I’m grateful to President Trump, Secretary Mullin, Associate Administrator Phillips, and agency personnel for delivering this reimbursement. This funding will strengthen health care across our state, as well as provide meaningful assistance for the Havasupai Tribe. I also appreciate the work of Chairman Garbarino and Arizona’s congressional delegation, especially Rep. Biggs, who demonstrated considerable leadership behind the scenes to resolve these long overdue needs. We will continue to partner with the Trump administration to deliver wins for all Arizonans.”

Crane Applauds Release of Federal Funding for Arizona Health Care and Tribal Infrastructure Today, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced the release of federal grants for the Arizona Department of Emergency & Military Affairs, the Arizona Department of Health Services, Dignity Community Care, Dignity Health, the Havasupai Tribe, HonorHealth, and Valleywise Health. Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) welcomed the announcement, which reimburses major health care operations, strengthens statewide emergency response capacity, and supports critical infrastructure across Arizona. Stakeholders throughout Arizona will receive more than $282 million in federal support. These funds reimburse the hiring of medical personnel, the purchase of essential supplies and equipment, diagnostic testing, temporary medical infrastructure, alternative care facilities, post-acute bed reserve programs, and statewide emergency food distribution operations. Today’s announcement also includes more than $5.5 million for the Havasupai Tribe to address severe damage caused by flash flooding in 2024. The plan covers the replacement of four damaged bridges, with the new structures designed to withstand major flood events, including 100-year scenarios. Additional funding protects the Tribe’s ancestral burial grounds through new fencing and the installation of erosion-control systems to secure culturally significant sites. “On behalf of rural Arizonans, I’m grateful to President Trump, Secretary Mullin, Associate Administrator Phillips, and agency personnel for delivering this reimbursement. This funding will strengthen health care across our state, as well as provide meaningful assistance for the Havasupai Tribe,” said Rep. More than 120 local and regional leaders attended the summit, which was hosted by Yavapai College’s Center for Learning and Innovation. The forum featured senior officials from several federal agencies, including the National Park Service, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Crane’s Amendment to Expedite White Sage Fire Recovery Unanimously Passes U.S. House In response to the devastating White Sage Fire, which burned nearly 60,000 acres in Northern Arizona, Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ) introduced an amendment to expedite recovery efforts in the impacted areas. This morning, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously adopted his proposal as part of the 2026 Farm Bill. Modeled after the North Rim Restoration Act of 2025 , the amendment grants the U.S. Forest Service emergency contracting authorities to bypass unnecessary red tape and reduce bureaucratic delays. These flexibilities apply to forest management, rebuilding, planning, design, and other recovery activities within the areas of the Kaibab National Forest affected by the White Sage Fire. The amendment also requires detailed reporting to Congress every 180 days to increase transparency regarding expenditures, contractor performance, potential conflicts of interest, and any issues related to waste, fraud, or abuse throughout the recovery process. Additionally, Rep. Crane signed on as the sole cosponsor of an amendment led by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) to remove pesticide liability protections from the underlying bill. He also cosponsored an amendment introduced by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) to reform the evidence standards used when compensating ranchers for livestock losses caused by Mexican wolves. Both amendments passed the House with strong bipartisan support. “Page, Fredonia, the Kaibab Band of Paiute Indians, and other impacted communities were dealt a setback due to the devastating White Sage Fire.
