Hardworking TSA agents have missed two paychecks, leaving families without money to buy groceries. Exacerbating the issue, Americans traveling are stuck in hours-long lines with no end in sight, because Speaker Johnson refused to put a bill on the floor. Instead of fixing the problem, he chose to kick the can down the road again with another 60-day patch fix. He had the votes to do the right thing, but instead he wanted to play politics with workers' paychecks and people’s time.

Service changed my life and I want to ensure that youth all across the country know that service is a way to develop valuable career skills and give back to your community. I’m proud to partner with Dads Caucus to shed light on these important opportunities and what we can do—as Members of Congress and dads—to encourage young people to get involved in service. I want to thank my colleague, Congressman Gil Cisneros, for leading this month’s Dads Caucus meeting. Rep. Cisneros’s lifelong commitment to service, from his years in the U.S. Navy to his work here in Congress, exemplifies what it means to be both a dedicated public servant and a proud father. Together, we’ll keep working to open more pathways into public service for young people and create real opportunities for the next generation. We are grateful to the Congressional Dads Caucus for the opportunity to represent the work of our former colleagues, the commissioners and staff of the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service, and engage in a robust dialogue on the findings and recommendations in our final report to Congress, Inspired to Serve. All forms of service to our neighbors, communities, and our country offer those who serve the opportunity to uplift and enrich their own lives while forming connections as Americans, particularly in the case of young people who serve. We look forward to the Dads Caucus taking these enduring truths forward in response to America's needs today.

I am proud to bring back over $18 million in federal funding that will go directly into our CA-31 community. Through Community Project Funding grants, our cities will finally get to see their parks and recreation centers get upgrades, bring in new technology for public safety systems, and make long overdue investments in water, transportation, and infrastructure. This funding will be foundational to supporting the growth and success of our community and I look forward to working with our local partners to see their projects through.

America’s small businesses deserve contracts that meet the current realities that they face today. My bill will set a new standard threshold for small business contracts in SBA programs—opening up new opportunities for more small businesses, fighting rising costs from inflation, and spurring small business competition. This legislation will advance stronger small businesses through better contracts across all SBA programs.

Current thresholds for contracts awarded to small businesses do not reflect realities of costs and inflation, and limit small business competition. Today, I proudly voted yes on the clean bill to restore the ACA tax credits, because we need these cost-saving tax credits to give relief to the millions of Americans feeling crushed by the weight of healthcare costs. Across America, our communities deserve access to quality and affordable care, and while the fight to lower healthcare costs continues, today’s vote was a step in the right direction. Now, we must continue the momentum to reform our healthcare system to work for everyone, not just those who can afford it. Last month, I took action to introduce a comprehensive healthcare plan to address the healthcare crisis by lowering costs, expanding access to high-quality care, and protecting the programs that millions of working Americans and seniors rely on. I will continue to stand united with the entire Democratic party as we fight for a more affordable future.

Cisneros Votes to Extend ACA Tax Credits, Reduce Healthcare Costs January 8, 2026 Press Release Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Gil Cisneros (CA-31) voted in favor of extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits to reduce healthcare costs. Premiums rose substantially after Republicans ended the Affordable Care Act tax credits and healthcare costs soared following the passage of the Republican funding bill just a few months ago. The measure to restore the ACA tax credits for the next three years passed the House. “Today, I proudly voted yes on the clean bill to restore the ACA tax credits, because we need these cost-saving tax credits to give relief to the millions of Americans feeling crushed by the weight of healthcare costs,” said Rep. Cisneros. “In my district alone, over 44,000 individuals stand to lose their healthcare thanks to this Republican-manufactured healthcare crisis. Across America, that number rises to 22 million. “After orchestrating the longest government shutdown in our history, Republicans finally joined ranks with every Democrat to protect healthcare for their people. This could have ended before it even started, if Republicans had the courage to do the right thing months ago, before people had to bear the costs of the premium hikes. Instead, they held the government hostage because they were too afraid to stand against the President. “Across America, our communities deserve access to quality and affordable care, and while the fight to lower healthcare costs continues, today’s vote was a step in the right direction. Now, we must continue the momentum to reform our healthcare system to work for everyone, not just those who can afford it. Administrator Loeffler does not seem to understand that she is the Small Business Administrator, not the Secretary of Homeland Security. Pulling resources out of Los Angeles will only hurt small businesses and does nothing to keep anyone safe. This is a political act of retaliation and it’s going to punish small businesses across the region. I strongly oppose the relocation of the Los Angeles SBA Regional Office. Ms. Loeffler should focus on supporting small businesses, not stripping them of resources.

Cisneros Leads Letter Condemning LA SBA Office Relocation June 13, 2025 Press Release Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Gil Cisneros (CA-31) led a letter to Administrator Kelly Loeffler, expressing strong opposition to her decision to relocate the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Regional Office out of Los Angeles. This move follows her previous announcement to move six other SBA Regional Offices out of major metropolitan areas with high concentration of small businesses. Her latest decision came in response to protests against the ICE raids in Southern California that are splitting families apart and targeting working immigrants rather than criminals. “Administrator Loeffler does not seem to understand that she is the Small Business Administrator, not the Secretary of Homeland Security,” said Rep. Cisneros questioned Administrator Loeffler on her decision to move SBA offices out of major economic hubs, fearing Los Angeles would be next. The letter was signed by Members of the Los Angeles Congressional Delegation and Small Business Committee Members, among others. Cosigners include: Rep. Thompson (CA-04), Rep. Brownley (CA-26), Rep.
